An open framework reminiscent of 60’s sculpture, it is not welded but pathetically bound with yellow insulating tape. On either side of the central frame two objects are spiked, they are of very different character: one a bundled mass of fruit and vegetables, the other a brittle skull-like husk. It makes reference to a favourite painting of mine in the National Gallery London by Giordano in which Perseus takes out the Gorgons head from a sack and shows it to Phineas who is turned to stone. I have always been fascinated by this transition. From warm life to bone grey.
